According to the Telegraph, Manchester United are set to switch their attention to Sergej Milinkovic-Savic as ten Hag looks to acquire a centre-midfielder before the transfer window closes.
The Premier League side have been unable to land a priority midfield target this summer, having failed to agree personal terms with Barcelona’s Frenkie de Jong, but the latest indicates that they will now step up their approach for the 27-year-old Lazio star.
According to sources, United have been in contact with the Italian club about the signing of Rabiot. According to United, the Bianconeri are willing to let the France international leave and he would love to join them in the top flight. Veronique has started preliminary talks with the mother.
A prolific scorer for Lazio last season, with 11 goals and 11 assists, he has previously been linked to a number of English clubs. The Serbia star is in the last year of his contract and he could be tempted to leave.

13.51 BST: Manchester United have withdrawn their interest in Marko Arnautovic, sources have told ESPN’s Rob Dawson.
According to sources, the club were in talks with Bologna about a deal, but the Italian side’s demands scuttled any hope of a deal.
Increased fan backlash against the move was made aware of by United. Although he was banned for one game by European soccer’s governing body for his on-field rant, Arnautovic insisted that he was not racist.
Bologna’s valuation has increased since initial conversations took place and sources have told ESPN that United initially targeted Arnautovic because they believed he could be signed for a relatively low fee. During his time as a coach at FC Twente in the Netherlands, Ten Hag worked with Arnautovic and he wants to add a physical back-up for him in the squad.
13.35 BST: Everton have announced the signing of midfielder Amadou Onana from Lille.
The 20-year-old has signed a five-year contract at Goodison Park. The Belgium international had previously been linked with West Ham United.
After James Tarkowski, Ruben Vinagre, Dwight McNeil and Conor Coady, Onana is the fifth summer signing.

13.14 BST: Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid are battling it out for the signing of Bayer Leverkusen starlet Iker Bravo, sources have told ESPN’s Adriana Garcia and Rodrigo Faez.
The Spain U19 and U17 forward was the first to be shown an interest. Madrid decided to join the race for the signature of the 17-year-old after watching his progress last season.
According to sources, both clubs will allow him to go step-by-step and play for the reserves before joining the first team, as they see him as a prospect for the future.
After the club increased their offer for the forward, the player’s team appreciated the effort made by Atleti, but they are confident that he will choose Madrid. All parties expect the deal to be completed in the coming days.
If Frenkie de Jong were to leave Barcelona this summer, he would prefer a move toChelsea, according to a report.
In order to register their new signings without breaching LaLiga’s wage limits, Barcelona reached a preliminary agreement with Manchester United to sell De Jong for a total of 85m, but he is adamant that he wants to stay at Camp Nou.
Sources have told Sam Marsden and Moises Llorens that the club sent a letter to the player in July warning him that they wanted him to accept a wage cut if he remained at the club.

12.11 BST: Tottenham Hotspur are closing in on a deal worth around £21m for Udinese defender Destiny Udogie, sources have told ESPN’s James Olley.
After this season, Spurs will loan the left-back back to the club in Italy, where he will join up with his new team in the summer of 2023.
According to sources, Spurs will pay an initial 15m with a number of add-ons worth around 6m. This week, a medical is expected in Italy.
If Udogie’s transfer is completed, he will be the seventh summer signing for the club.
11.55 BST: Manchester United have registered their interest in PSV Eindhoven winger Cody Gakpo, sources have told ESPN’s Rob Dawson.
Gakpo’s representatives have been made aware of United’s interest but the club have not submitted a bid.
According to sources, PSV are unlikely to accept anything less than the value of Gakpo, who is valued at around 35 million pounds.
The club’s academy graduate scored 21 goals in 47 games last season. He has been capped by the Netherlands seven times.
Gakpo, who scored twice in PSV’s win against FC Emmen on Saturday, would be interested in moving to United if the terms are agreed, according to sources.
Kostic is in final talks with a new club and won’t play in the Super Cup against Real Madrid.
Sky Sports reported that Kostic was set to join the Bianconeri in a deal worth up to 18 million. Kostic was not wanted to play in the Super Cup against Madrid, according to the reports.

09.58 BST: FC Copenhagen have signed Australia goalkeeper Mat Ryan from Real Sociedad on a two-year contract, the Danish Superliga champions said on Tuesday.
He wants to get as much game time as he can before the World Cup, which starts in November, in order to improve his chances of playing.
Ryan, who has 73 caps for Australia, said in a statement that he was looking forward to playing at Copenhangen, a club which has a fantastic reputation throughout Europe.
He said that the team has great quality and that the club wants to win titles and compete in the biggest tournaments in Europe. I will do everything I can to contribute to that.
Ryan is set to replace Grabara, who is out with injury, and made only nine appearances last season. They won their 14th Superliga title last year.
The manager of Villa says he is waiting for the defender to look him in the eye and show that he is ready to play.
