On Sunday afternoon, as Manchester United lost to Brighton at Old Trafford, ten Hag was reminded of his need for a new player in the middle of the park.
After releasing two players in June, the Red Devil’s are on the hunt for a central player. They’ve signed three people so far this summer, including a free agent and a player from the Netherlands.

It looks like United have made a breakthrough in their search for a body in the park. They’re close to signing the Frenchman after agreeing a fee with the Italian team, but their hopes of landing the Barcelona star Frenkie de Jong look slim. The headlines are from Old Trafford.
Rabiot keen on move
Before United came calling, Rabiot was against the idea of playing for a non-champions League club.
According to The Telegraph, the 27-year-old is interested in a move to England but would prefer to play in the European Championship. Due to the club’s stature, he’s willing to make an exception for United this season.

He has won 22 trophies for his club and country, including five Ligue 1 titles and the Nations League. Since joining the club from Paris Saint-Germain in July, he’s made over 100 appearances for the club.

Keys tears into the boss
Ten Hag delivered nothing and looked lost. Richard Keys, a former Sky Sports anchor, claimed that the Dutchman hasn’t changed a thing since he replaced Ralf Rangnick.
Keys wrote that nothing has changed since the last team was picked. “None”. I’m very sorry. Now that proper No.9’s are back in fashion, they’ve got a 5’8 centre-back that’s likely to get ripped out of him most weeks. Who came up with that idea for goodness’ sake?

A good game has been talked by Ten Hag since he was appointed. On Sunday he didn’t deliver anything. Is there a better squad for Brighton? I do not think so, but their coach got them to play. The person looked lost on the touch line.

De Jong’s Barcelona nightmare

According to a report, Barcelona are considering taking legal action over the pay cut that De Jong was told to take.
The Spanish giants want De Jong to either reduce his salary or leave to allow them to register their new signings. They have to make sales by August 13 for the likes of Robert Lewandowski and Raphinha.
It’s believed that De Jong is owed more than 17 million dollars by Barcelona and still has four years left on his existing deal. The transfer window closes on September 1st, so United and Chelsea are interested in signing the Dutch.

According to The Athletic, Barcelona want to go back to a previous deal with De Jong. Joan Laporta and his colleagues believe the contract given to them by the previous board was involved in criminality.
